Girls soccer team falls to a tough Waverly-Shell Rock team

 Waverly-Shell Rock topped the Clear Lake girls soccer team in a 1-0 bout on Friday, April 20 at Lion’s Field.
    The 15th ranked Waverly Shell-Rock team scored at the 34 minute mark in the second half when a ball got past goalkeeper Riley Brinkman.  It was the only ball that got past Brinkman, as she collected 20 saves in the game.

Ventura boys compete at Belmond Meet

   The Ventura boys track competed in Belmond on Tuesday, April 17.  The Vikings placed fourth out of six teams.
    Two events for the Vikings picked up second place finishes.  The 1600 meter relay team of Josh Miller, Kevin Boehnke, Jon Haag and Jeff O’Brien ran the race in 4:20.57

Life-Line Resources withdraws offer for Sunset School property

   Life-Line Resouces announced that they have withdrawn their $200,000 offer to purchase Sunset School in Clear Lake.
      The sale of the property has been tied up in court after neighbors in the Sunset area complained about the company locating in a residential neighborhood.
    The Clear Lake School Board was in favor of selling the property to Life-Line Resources, voting on the issue on May 10, 2010.

Farmers State Bank purchases Clear Lake branch of Bank of America

     Farmers State Bank is purchasing the Clear Lake branch of Bank of America.  According to Randall D. Hanna, president and Nathan Halverson, vice president, the agreement to purchase the $21 million branch was finalized Tuesday, April 24, pending regulatory approval.  It is anticipated that the closing date of this acquisition will be in

Clear Lake hosts Lion Relays; place in the middle of the pack

Lion Relays
    Clear Lake hosted its Lions Relays Tuesday, April 10.  The Lions finished in the middle of the eight-team field with 66 points. 
    The Lions had a pair of first place finishes in the meet.  Chandler Diercks won the long jump with a leap of 19’ 10”, while teammate Jake Harle was second at 18’ 3/4”.
