CLHS class of ‘62 to hold reunion
The Clear Lake High School
Class of 1962 will celebrate their 53rd
class reunion on Aug. 8 at the home
of classmate Linda Purviance Matson.

at MacGowan Park
The public is invited to enjoy an
outdoor worship service jointly held
by First Congregational Church and
the United Methodist Church on
Sunday, Aug. 9, at MacGowan Park in
Clear Lake.
The worship service is in rec-
ognition of their common love of
Christ and service to others. The two
churches combined services last sum-
mer as well.
Fellowship and coffee will begin
at 9:30 a.m. and the worship service at
10 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Kay
Thompson will conduct the service.
School supplies or donations will
be collected for Clear Lake school’s
“Kids and Families in Need” program.

Laureate Gamma Xi Chapter
of Beta Sigma Phi has had meetings
during February, March, April and
May, which included programs such
as, “Friendship,” “Life Questions,”
“Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture,”
“Volunteering,” “Mother’s Day,” and
an annual Memorial Day Family
Breakfast at Knorr Lodge.
A Valentine themed meeting was
also held on Feb. 14 with a dinner
with spouses and friends at the An-
chor Inn.
The donations from serving re-
freshments at the Clear Lake Concert
Series will be given to local charities
or persons in need at the beginning
of the next year, which begins Sept. 7,
2015.
Laureate Gamma Xi chapter is
in charge of the State Beta Sigma Phi
Project. The project, which was this
chapter’s nomination, is the Autism
Center, which started at Opportunity
Village last year. All the chapters in
Clear Lake, as well as across Iowa, will Gretta Bauman, president of Wright

The group will open the new year
with the Beginning Day meeting on

#386, of Mason City, held a Toast-
masters Leadership Institute (TLI) on
Monday, July 27. The TLI was held to
train incoming officers for Division A
of District 19. Members from the fol-
lowing clubs were in attendance: Ah
Counters and Changing Winds, from
Ft. Dodge, plus Wright On, from
Clarion. Joan Johansen, a former
Toastmasters International Director,
gave a speech on how Toastmasters
changed her life. Jacque Johansen,
Divison A director, delivered a moti-
vating speech on “We’re the A List!”

toring program for members.
