Sheryl Lynn Ruhs

Sheryl Lynn Ruhs, 61, of Clear Lake, left this world on Oct. 18, 2023, surrounded by family and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake. Family requests that you wear your favorite Minnesota Vikings and/or Iowa Hawkeyes gear.  Following the service the celebration will continue at the Clear Lake VFW, all are welcome to attend.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, and continued one hour prior to the service.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1961, the daughter of Bob and Kira (Loden) Weber of Osage, Iowa.  Sherri graduated from Osage High School in 1980. Sherri was married in 1979 to Kevin Gunsallus and three daughters were born from this union:  Jacqlyn, Jennifer, and Jessica.  They later divorced.  Later, Sherri married Roger Ruhs on Sept. 28, 2002, in Clear Lake.  They spent many happy years together until his death on Dec. 28, 2013. Most recently, she was engaged to Mark Vargason with whom she enjoyed asparagus hunting and good times until his passing on June 18, 2023.

Sherri had five supportive brothers and sisters in addition to the most amazing group of friends that were family.

Sherri devoted 25 years of service to Larson Manufacturing. She loved working with children and worked at Charlie Brown Day Care for several years. Prior to that, she operated an in-home daycare.

She proudly never missed a game or dance recital her daughters were in while they were growing up.  Sherri was only 4’10” tall, but what she lacked in physical height, she made up for with her one of a kind laugh and her enormous heart.  She loved spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed lake laps, golfing, asparagus hunting, back in the day black Friday shopping, and story telling.  Of course, Sherri was always watching and cursing the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes during the games.  Her Sunday Fundays and frog-leg frys were legendary.

Those left to cherish Sherri’s memory include her mother, Kira Weber, of Osage; her children, Jacque (Bill) Ferjak, of Rosemount, Minn., Jennifer (Tom) Faber, of Rosemount, and Jessica Gunsallus, of Phoenix, Az.; her grandchildren, Aubrey, Nora, Liam, and Danielle Ferjak, Kennidy and Andrew Faber, Lorelei and James Cash and Dylan Gunsallus; her siblings, Donna (Dave) Hanna, Ken (Patty) Weber, Diann (Mike) Butters, Darrell (Carol) Weber, and Theresa (Brian) Farmer; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sherri was preceded in death by husband, Roger Ruhs; father, Bob Weber; niece, Dawn Hanna; Mark Vargason; Kevin Gunsallus; grandparents; and other aunts and uncles.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake was in charge of arrangements.
