Harlem Ambassadors coming to CL
The Clear Lake Evening Lions are sponsoring the Harlem Ambassadors Basketball Team to be featured in a game against the Clear Lake All-Stars on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2 p.m., in the Clear Lake High School gym. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door and are available from any Clear Lake Evening Lion.
Ventura Boosters to hold chili supper
The Ventura Booster Club will hold a chili supper on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 4-7 p.m. in the elementary gym. The public is invited to attend and tickets are available at the door. Cost is $5 for adults, students 12 and under are $3 and children under four are free.
Parks & Rec to hold girls basketball
The Clear Lake Parks and Rec department will be holding a program for girls in grades 3rd-6th to learn about basketball. Monday and Friday nights will cover the fundamentals of the game and Saturday mornings will be skill building and league play. All four grades will meet Oct. 20, 24, 27 and 31, from 3:15-4:15. The 3rd and 4th graders will meet at Clear Creek, while the 5th and 6th graders will meet at the Middle School. The coaches are Angela Faber and Kristi Krmpotich, 3rd and fourth grade, and Steve Faber and Ron Loudenburg for the 5th and 6th graders. Saturday morning league will be held on Nov. 1, 8, 15, and 22, from 9:30 -11 a.m. The 3rd and 4th graders will play at Clear Creek and the 5th and 6th graders at the Middle School. Parents will be needed to coach during league play. A coaches meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 27, 4:30 p.m. at Clear Creek. The fee is $20 per player and the registration deadline is Oct. 15. Boys basketball program to be held
A boys basketball program for boys in grades 3rd-6th will be held by the Clear Lake Parks and Rec Department. The fundamentals of the game will be taught to the players and games will also be played. All grades will meet on the following Saturdays, Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 8, 15, and 22, in the High School gym. The 3rd and 4th graders will play from 9-10:30 a.m. and the 5th and 6th graders from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The program is being coached by Clear Lake High School Boy's Basketball Coach Mike Kahler and the varsity boys team, as well as parents. The fee is $18 and the deadline for registration is Oct. 10. An optional $8 T-shirt is available. Ladies Golf Day held at Oak Hills
Twenty-seven ladies participated in the season final regular play of golf at Oak Hills Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 18. Special prizes were awarded for most number of greens hit in regulation and that was won by Ardie Haugen. Dar Buchan, Joan Eness, and Connie Wheeler received prizes for most trees hit. Door prizes were won by Joan Eness, Julie Bradshaw and Rainy Bartleson. Arlys Spurlin had a chip-in on #1 and Julie Bradshaw had one on #3. After play year-end prizes were awarded to all individuals as to how they had improved their scores throughout the year. A potluck lunch was enjoyed by all.
Support Clear Lake volleyball team
It will be "Black-out Night" at the Clear Lake volleyball meet on Thursday, September 25. Wear black clothes and support the volleyball team.
