Lions land 12 on All District Teams

Eight players named to First, four to Second Team

    The successful Clear Lake football season was recognized with 12 athletes named to the Class 3A All District Teams.
    Clear Lake’s four senior co-captains were each honored:
    •Charlie Peterson, a two-year starter, led the team in receiving with 21 catches for 323 yards and three touchdowns.
    •Sean McChesney, a two-year starter, became a two-time First team All-District performer.  He carried the ball 93 times for 628 yards, averaging 6.8 yards per carry and scoring six touchdowns.  He had 15 catches for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
    •Jared Sholly also became a two-time First Team All-District selection.  The defensive lineman led the District with 16 sacks.
    •Justin Uhlenhopp led the team as its quarterback.  He completed 53 of 114 pass attempts for 799 yards and five touchdowns this season.
    Others named to the All-District First Team included:
    •Drew Dickson, a junior running back, who led the team with 10 rushing touchdowns.  He carried the ball 93 times for 398 yards.
    •Josh Carlson, a junior running back, who led the team in rushing with 726 yards on 134 carries.  He scored five touchdowns for the Lions.
    •Patrick Kolker, a 6’, 225-pound junior lineman, was part of an offensive line that rushed for 2,005 yards.
    •Zach Lindquist, a 6’1”, 222-pound junior lineman, was also part of the offensive line that was second in the District in total offense with 2,981 yards.
Second Team
    Four Clear Lake players were named to the Second All District Team.
    •DJ Wilhelm, sophomore, utility.  Wilhelm finished second in the District in kicking, averaging 49.3 yards per boot.  He had 45 kicks for 2,218 yards.  He led the District in punting with 25 punts for 940 yards, an average of 37.6.  His longest field goal this season was 42 yards.
    •Ryan Williamson, senior, defensive line;. Williamson started all games and recorded 44 solo tackles, 12 assists and three sacks.
    •Ethan Tindall, sophomore, linebacker.  Tindall led the team in tackles with 76 solo and 29 assists for a total of 105.  He was also credited with five sacks.
    •Rudy Wieck, senior, defensive line.  Wieck started all games and made 25 solo tackles and six assists for 31 total tackles.
All-Academic honors
    Jared Sholly, Eric Asbe, Charlie Peterson and Ryan Brattrud, all seniors, were also named Class 3A District #3 Academic All-District.  These players, who are starters, have maintained at least a 3.5 G.P.A.
