Comets blank the CL girls tennis team

    Charles City blanked the Clear Lake girls tennis team, 9-0 Thursday, April 29.  Despite the score, the Lions had some good performances in the outing, according to Coach Martha Andrews.
    Clear Lake’s Morgan Hejna came back from being down 0-3 to close the gap in her match with Amy Heitz, 6-10.  The doubles team of Hejna and Maria Wahl battled to 8-10 against Heitz and Joy Jass and lost only after many close games.  
    The doubles team of Sara Jo Raner and Kim Scherber were strong against Karly Holland and Meredith Worrill, losing 0-7.  
    In junior varsity action, the Lions got doubles wins from Ashley Russell-Lea Biebesheimer (6-2 over Johnson-Debrayn) and Ann Scherber-Alicia Mormann (6-4) over Piper-Young.
