One of seven candidates seeking a six-year term as a Clear Lake Sanitary District Trustee has withdrawn from the race.
“After much deliberation, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the position (as a) Clear Lake Sanitary District Trustee,” wrote Gary Hugi in a statement released Wednesday, Sept. 24.  Hugi threw his support behind Steve Nicklaus, who is currently fulfilling the term of the late Tom Lincoln, and newcomer Lothar Meyer.
Nicklaus, along with Robin Faught, Todd Hanson, Darren Hewett, Donald Morrison and Robert Wolfram Jr. are seeking a six-year trustee term.  Morrison is the incumbent in the position.
Lothar Meyer and Wesley Schubert, a former Sanitary District trustee, are running to serve the two years remaining on the position formerly held by Tom Lincoln.  Nicklaus had been appointed to serve until the election.
The election will be held Nov. 4.
