“Sunset At The Seawall” events scheduled for Aug. 30 have been canceled.  However, the popular Bill Riley Talent Search will go on as schedule in Clear Lake City Park.  The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the event, made the decision to cancel the event when corporate sponsorships could not be obtained.
    “It is always a sad thing when you have to cancel an event,” said Chamber Executive Director Gary Bright. “Businesses are scrutinizing the amount of funds they can earmark for event sponsorships and in today’s economic climate it is getting more and more difficult to recruit corporate sponsors for “free to the public” types of events.”
    Cancelled events include the lighted boat parade, street dance and fireworks.  
    The Bill Riley Talent Search will be held as scheduled.  The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m. in City Park.  Entry forms can be downloaded from the Chamber website www.clearlakeiowa.com [1].
    This would have been the fifth year for the Sunset at the Seawall event.
