Lions compete in three meets

    Clear Lake boys gave some strong performances at the Jim Ahrens Relay in Clear Lake.  
    Clear Lake’s 4x100 relay team earned its first win of the season. The relay included Josh Carlson, Drew Dickson, Jared Sholly and Sean McChesney.  They broke the tape in 45.37.
    Sholly also picked up two more gold medals in the meet.  He won the shot put with a toss of  46’7” and the discus with a throw of  172’.  That effort broke his own school record and meet record.
    Harrison Southwick  was second in the 400 hurdles in a time of 59.07.  He was third in the 110 hurdles in 16.56.  Lukas Matheson  was third in the 100 meter dash in  11.89 and Levi Kellogg was third in the 400 in 56.89.
    Clear Lake’s 1600 meter medley took second in 4:03.03.
    The 4x200 squad with Josh Carlson, Drew Dickson, Jake Kopriva and Sean McChesney was third in 1:39.91.  The 4x800 with Nicholas DiMarco, Andrew Klein, Nathan Higgins, Zach Johnson was fourth in 11:08.13.
    Sean McChesney earned a fourth place finish in the 200 in 23.81 and the 4x400 relay was fourth in 3:52.29.
 
Hackbarth Relays
    The Clear Lake boys participated in the Algona Hackbarth Relays last week.
    Jared Sholly had a good night for the Lions, winning the shot put (51’10”) and discus (157’7”).  Harrison Southwick finished fourth in the 110 M high hurdles in 16.46, his best time this year for him. He was also fifth in the 400 meter low hurdles (1:00.56);
    Other individual placements were recorded by Erik Schwichtenberg, fifth in the 3200 (11:44.01); Colin Lobdell, sixth in the 3200 (12:12.16); Levi Kellogg, fifth in the 400 (57.10).
    Clear Lake’s 4x100 relay with Josh Carlson, Drew Dickson, Lukas Matheson and Sean McChesney was sixth in 46.05.  The 4x200 relay of Josh Carlson, Drew Dickson, Jake Kopriva and McChesney was third in 1:37.81.
    In junior varsity competition, Nicholas DiMarco was fourth in the 3200 in 12:55.22.  Ryan Iverson was sixth in the 400 (1:03.24),  Colin Lobdell was sixth in the 1600 (5:51.22) and Elliott Neuberger was sixth in the 200  (25.94).

Mohawk Relays

    Jared Sholly was again a winner in the shot put (49’6 1/2”) and discus (150’ 10”) at the Mason City Mohawk Relays April 22. Harrison Southwick was a force in hurdle events.  He won the 400 meter hurdles in 59.09 and was third in the 110 highs in 16.58. Erik Schwichtenberg earned eighth place in the 3200.  He was clocked in 11:39.10.
    Clear Lake’s 4x200 with Josh Carlson, Drew Dickson, Jake Kopriva and Sean McChesney placed seventh in 1:37.91, while the 4x800 with Payton Hand, Nathan Higgins, Andrew Klein and Zach Johnson  was fifth in 10:35.22.
