Lady Vikes claim title at NEH Meet and second at Conferene Meet

    The Ventura girls competed in the Conference meet last week and also the Northeast Hamilton Relays, where they claimed the title.

Conference Meet
    The Lady Vikes traveled to Armstrong for the Conference Meet on Tuesday, April 29.  The team finished in second place with 103 points, behind the leaders Armstrong-Ringsted who had 141 points.
    Amanda Stephenson, Kim Hale, Amber Smith and Brittany Boehnke set the pace for the team by capturing a first place finish in the 4x800 relay.  Allie Schuler was next to capture a first, this time in the open 100 M dash in a time of 13:23  Andrea Toppin gave Ventura their final first place finish in the 1500.
    “Overall it was a good night for the girls,” said Coach Curtis Lilly.  “They came up a little short of their goal of winning another conference title, but they ran strong and gave their best and fought to the end.”

    •Distance Medley: Hale, Mandy Hackenmiller Nicole Huber, Andrea Toppin, 2nd
    •4x200 M Relay:  Welp, Chelsea Mathews, Christians, Allie Schuler, 3rd
    •800 M Run:  Stephenson, 4th; Huber, 6th
    •200 M Dash:  Allie Schuler, 6th
    •400 M Hurdles:  Hackenmiller, 6th
    •Sprint Medley:  Huber, Hackenmiller, Hale, Mathews, 4th
    •1500 M Run:  Toppin, 1st; Boehnke, 3rd
    •4x100 M Relay:  Welp, Mathews, Christians and Allie Schuler, 3rd
    •4x400 M Relay:  Christians, Mathews, Stephenson and Toppin, 4th

NEH Meet

    Ventura claimed championship honors in Jewell on Thursday night, May 1.  Ventura finished with 140, followed by CAL with 134, NEH with 113, ICA with 75; W-CL-T finished with 58 and CWL had 40 points.  The team scored in all 19 events.  They trailed for most of the meet until the final two events to pass CAL and earn the title.
    “It was a great team effort tonight.  We had four girls go home sick during the school day, so there was a lot of shuffling of assignments and girls running different events,” said Coach Curtis Lilly.

    •100 M Hurdles:  Christians, 2nd; Welp, 3rd
