The annual Color The Wind Festival was a high-flying success Saturday. Two-hundred kites of all sizes filled the
sky above Clear Lake, based at the Sea Wall. Festival organizer and kite enthusiast Larry Day said kite flyers from eight states attended the event and an estimated 6,000 persons enjoyed the view.
βI think this was the biggest and best yet,β said Larry Day. βIt was just perfect-- from the blue, sunny sky, to the wind.β The morning started a bit breezy for the flyers, with winds in the 18 mph. range. By afternoon, the wind settled down to the optimum 8-12 mph.
