The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Commission has awarded a contract to L.W. Matteson, of Burlington, Iowa for dredging work at the west end of Clear Lake. Matteson’s bid of $6,453,000 was the lowest of three bids submitted for the work.  Matteson also did the dredging project at Crystal Lake.
    The engineer’s estimate for the work, which will begin this spring, was $8 million.
    The project consists of the hydraulic dredging of Little Lake portion of Clear Lake, control structures in the spoil containment site located south of Ventura, and incidental work.  The project is budgeted by Lake Water Quality Improvement Funds over the course of two fiscal years at $4.7 million each year and an additional $1 million from the local community.
