The Clear Lake girls finished their regular season with three straight wins.  The Lions toppled conference foes Webster City and Humboldt, then wrapped up the week with a non-conference victory over Charles City.

The Ventura girls are hitting their stride at the right time of the season - heading into playoffs.  The Lady Vikes topped Harris-Lake Park in their final regular season game and they beat Northwood-Kensett in the opening round of District action.

Public improvements requested at Lincoln school site

   Developers of the former Lincoln School property are asking the city to make roughly $121,500 in public improvements to the site to facilitate its development.

City Council leans toward holding tax rate steady

    The Clear Lake City Council indicated it is leaning toward keeping its tax rate the same in the upcoming fiscal year.
    Last week City Administrator Scott Flory presented the Council with two options to consider concerning the city’s fiscal year 2013 tax rate: keep the tax rate the same ($10.54 per $1,000 of assessed property valuation) or drop it slightly ($10.36).

EDC merger results in growth of revolving loan fund territory

The recent merger of the North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation with the Mason City Economic Development Corporation and Clear Lake Economic Development Corporation has resulted in the economic development revolving loan fund previously administered by the MCEDC being regionalized and becoming accessible

    Jeffrey S. Walk, 53, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

    Sandra L. (Morse Burke) Gjerdahl, 65, of Quartzsite, Az., and formerly Fertile, Iowa died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at the Palo Verde Hospital, Blythe, Calif.
    Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Church of Christ, Fertile, with Pastor Rob Perry and Pastor Dennis Ganz officiating.  Interment will be in Ventura Cemetery, Ventura, Iowa. Family suggests memorials to Sandra L. Gjerdahl Memorial Fund.

    Brenna Lynn Shank, six-week-old daughter of Jeriah and Shawna Shank of Monroe, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the First Baptist Church in Monroe with burial following at the Colfax Cemetery.
