Reporter subscription campaign kicks off Sept. 4

 

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, seven candidates will kick off the Mirror-Reporter’s semi-annual Subscription Campaign.  The candidates will be competing for cash prizes totaling over $5,000.  

The campaign will run through Friday, Sept. 21.

Every two-year (new or renewal) subscription sold during this campaign will receive an additional two months of the Mirror-Reporter absolutely free.  Every one year (new or renewal) subscription sold during this campaign will receive one additional month of the Mirror-Reporter absolutely free.

Grant will provide second beach cleaner

 

A second beach cleaner will be added to the arsenal local conservationists use to reduce bacteria levels at swim beaches.

Clear Lake has been named as one of 12 grant recipients chosen by The Watershed Improvement Review Board.  The Board recently approved applications totaling $946,952 in grants to support projects that will improve water

Eight letterwinners return to lead the team

Combining programs has brought together some good athletes and a strong team

 

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura football team is looking to provide some tough competition in the 2A District 2 field.

The team philosophy of the G-H/V volleyball team says it all: “Together We Can.”  Despite the combining of two programs, Coach Tracy Schmidt and her team are committed to combining two programs to make a strong team that is ready to compete.

 

DiMarco takes over Clear Lake cross country program

 

The Clear Lake Cross Country program has a new head coach this year.  Nick DiMarco is now leading the Lion pack.  He makes the transition to the high school team after coaching the middle school cross country team for seven years.

The following is information from Mason City High School regarding traffic flow around the complex due to construction. Those planning to attend Friday’s football game at MCHS should be aware of the following:

Highway 122 is under construction in front of the high school, and it will take about four more weeks to complete 

Ten seniors will add experience to Lion varsity volleyball

It’s Lions vs. Mohawks Friday for first time since 1930

 

Clear Lakers love their history-- and their football, so this Friday is a special night.  

For the first time since 1930, the Clear Lake Lions will take on the Mason City Mohawks on the football field.  It will be the season opener for the Lions; Mason City lost to Ames in their first game played last week.  The game will be played in Mason City, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
