Giving Tree ornaments available

For a quarter of a century, the Giving Tree has helped to make the holidays a little brighter for Clear Lake area families.   Approximately 60 of the 172 ornaments on this year’s Giving Tree in the Mirror-Reporter office are still available.

Sign-up forms were distributed at Clear Lake schools, Ventura elementary, Lake Town Charlie Brown and Head Start inviting families which may need

Christmas By The Lake celebration better than ever 

Christmas comes early for Gene Madson and members of the Christmas By The Lake Committee.   This weekend the group has planned a spectacular 20th anniversary celebration.

“I love every year that we do Christmas By The Lake-- I can’t pick a favorite, “ said Madson, who has chaired all 20 of the holiday celebrations.  “There’s always a little surprise and it’s always a great time.”

   

CL, MC school sharing programs under review

Clear Lake and Mason City School Boards met in a joint work session Monday night, with a focus on the future of sharing agreements between the districts.  

Although the districts share a nutrition director, grounds and transportation supervisor, facilities supervisor, IT director and a French/talented and gifted teacher, the majority of discussion by the Boards seemed to center around their shared superintendent, Anita Micich.
