Callanan wins Board of Supervisors race

Cerro Gordo County voters turned out in high numbers to cast their votes in the recent General Election held on Tuesday, Nov. 4.  There were 16,210 ballots cast in the county.

In Cerro Gordo County, the race between Governor Terry Branstad (R) and Jack Hatch (D) was not a close one, with Branstad receiving 60.4 percent of the vote.  Branstad collected 10,297 votes to Hatch’s 6,341.

On Aug. 1, 2014, the Clear Lake Police Department took a theft report from Clear Lake Bank and Trust.  The theft was in reference to Clear Lake Bank and Trust Company account holder Dirk Firman, who was doing business as Transvideo Teleproductions.  Along with the theft report, the bank reported that Firman was using a technique called, “Check Floating” or “Check Kiting.”

Former Clear Lake man comes back to Iowa to film movie

A former Clear Lake resident is coming back to his home state to “scare” up some interest in the state he takes pride in.  Jack Meggers, of Whole Hearted Productions, will be shooting a thriller/horror movie, “The Burial,” in locations around Iowa.
