Group prepares to embark on life changing experience

    They are going to Haiti to help, but members of a Clear Lake group embarking on a mission trip are certain they will be the ones whose lives are impacted the most.
    A team of 23 will leave Thursday, Nov. 3, on a mission sponsored by Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. Church members and others will spend the week in Carrefour, Haiti helping to rebuild a sister church,


Two new members will join experience on City Council

    Four Clear Lake City Council Representatives will be elected Tuesday, Nov. 8.
    Incumbents Mike Callanan and Terry Unsworth are unopposed in their bid to continue to serve in the two at-large positions on the Council.  Unsworth originally served one term on the Council, ending in December, 2009, representing the Second Ward.  He was appointed to the at-large position formerly held by Jon Monson in September, 2010.  His appointment was for the period ending with the November, 2011 election.  A pair of newcomers will also join the Council.  Dana Brant is the candidate for the First


Three on the ballot in Ventura

    Three Ventura City Council Representatives are unopposed in seeking re-election on Tuesday. 
    Darwin Avery and John Quintus say they were motivated to seek re-election to see projects such as the Main Street/West Lake Street street project get completed after several years in the planning.  They, along with Mike Thackery, also note they hope to make a difference and help the community grow and move forward through their service as Council members.
