Ventura, G-H Boards move toward sharing

The Ventura and Garner-Hayfield school boards have directed their attorneys to look into the details of drafting a letter of intent to participate in a whole-grade sharing agreement.  The two boards gathered in Ventura Wednesday for a joint meeting.
    The letter of intent must be filed by late October if the two school districts are to proceed with whole grade sharing next school year.

   

Chuck Berry headlines WDP

    The Surf Ballroom & Museum has announced Rock and Roll legend Chuck Berry is among the artists who are scheduled to appear at the 2012 Winter Dance Party event, scheduled for Feb. 1-4, 2012.
    Berry, also known as “The Father of Rock & Roll”, gained success by watching the audience’s reaction and playing accordingly, putting his listeners’ amusement above all else. For this reason, tunes like “Johnny B. Goode,” “Maybellene” and “Memphis” have become anthems to an integrated American youth and pop culture.

Opportunity Village will mark 40th anniversary with special events

    Forty years ago, on Sept. 15, the first cottage opened at Handicap Village in Clear Lake, as a home for adults with disabilities.  Today, known as Opportunity Village, the non-profit charitable organization serves more than 600 people throughout north central Iowa.
    To mark the 40th anniversary of services, Opportunity Village is celebrating with a public open house on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011.  A
