Clear Lake will continue sharing school staff with MC

Will plan for possible end

On a unanimous vote Monday night, the Clear Lake School Board approved continued sharing of four district positions, including that of Superintendent Anita Micich.
 Despite the action, board members laid the groundwork for some changes and stressed they must begin planning for a future in which they likely will not share a superintendent.
 “The end is in sight. What is our plan going forward?” asked Board member John Loge. “We have to make sure we are equipped going forward.”

So when Evie Osterman spoke glowingly about American University’s Washington Semester® Program, her granddaughter Alexa Calaguas took note. Osterman attended the Washington Semester Program in the fall of 1960 in the nation’s capitol.  “It was the catalyst for the rest of my life,” she says now.

State: No more automatic waivers
 Clear Lake School leaders plan to voice their opposition to an announcement by the director of the Iowa Department of Education, informing school districts it will now be tougher to get a waiver to start classes earlier in the fall.
