City officials say they have asked nicely. Now they are going to put some bite in their request to not feed waterfowl.
The Council approved a draft of a new ordinance which will prohibit feeding waterfowl within 300-feet of any City owned and maintained recreation area. This includes City Beach and North Lakeview Drive,

Ryg leaves for FBI National Academy

Police Lieutenant Deb Ryg has recorded another professional first.
The first woman on the Clear Lake police department has now become the first Clear Lake police officer to be invited to attend the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Va. Ryg left last week to begin a 10-week course of study. She will concentrate on management studies.
Police Chief Greg Peterson nominated Ryg for acceptance into the prestigious academy. FBI National Academy graduates make up less than one percent of the country’s law enforcement officers.
“It’s quite an honor,” Peterson said, noting only six Iowans are selected each year for the academy. He submitted her nomination

School leader is finalist for Nebraska post

Superintendent of Schools Anita Micich has informed the Clear Lake School Board that she is one of six candidates interviewing for a superintendent’s position in Nebraska.
Micich was named superintendent for the Mason City School District in 2008 and was hired by the Clear Lake School Board in 2010 in a sharing agreement with Mason City.
