Members of the Open Bible Church in Clear Lake traveled to Tijuana, Mexico last month to build a house. In between the hammering and painting they crafted something much greater.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, at about 3:56 p.m. the Clear Lake Police Department was called to 708 S. 8th St. on a report of an 18-month-old child falling through a window screen. The child fell approximately 15-feet from the window.

Could Clear Lake’s soon-to-be abandoned water tower become a home?
That’s what Stick Stecker is proposing. The North Iowa businessman is pursuing a plan to purchase the water tower near the Four Winds addition on Highway 18 West and turn it into a multi-story home with a 360-degree view.

Speculation about the future of the soon-to-be defunct Highway 18 water tower may come to an end Monday night, Oct. 6. The City Council is expected to discuss a timeline for demolishing the 250,000 gallon multi-leg storage tower.
City Administrator Scott Flory said the City has not received any offer to purchase the water tower, however he is aware of interest to turn the elevated structure into a home.
