Clear Lakers Grandon and Good file in final week

Seven candidates-- three Republicans and four Democrats-- have filed nomination papers for the Cerro Gordo County District 2 Supervisor position. Bob Amosson, a Republican who has held the position for 13 years, is not seeking re-election.

Primaries for both parties will be held Tuesday, June 3.


Teen’s volunteer service earns national Spirit of Community Award

Seventeen-year-old Riley Brinkman, of Clear Lake, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.  The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama.

The Clear Lake’s Planning Committee for RAGBRAI XLII has been announced.  

The Planning Committee is an independent committee with support of the City and Chamber of Commerce.  The group will plan all aspects of the festivities happening on July 23.  As a Pass-Through Town, Clear Lake is expected to welcome the riders and other guests, to provide food and water, and to provide a safe, positive environment.
