Box tops can equal big money for Clear Lake school
We all know that clipping some coupons can save you some change. But did you know box tops are worth thousands?
Last year Clear Creek Elementary School received $5,219.60 just from box tops turned in by the community and trimmed, bundled and sent in by volunteers.
Sure, it takes a lot of box tops to make that kind of money-- 52,196 to be exact, but it’s an easy way for the school district to receive over $20,000 annually say Julie Jones and Shawn Neuman, who have been heading up the box top effort this school year.

“One aspect of having RAGBRAI visit a community is the opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to generate income as a vendor. While a perception is that everyone can ‘get rich’ when RAGBRAI comes to town, the fact is that will not happen, however those who want to get involved, do some extra work, have some fun, and make a nice profit will probably meet their expectations,” explains Diane Thompson, chair of the local committee planning for the RAGBRAI visit to Clear Lake July 23.

Former fire station is being transformed for police use
Renovations at Clear Lake City Hall which will more than double the space allotted to the police department are beginning to take shape.
Police Chief Rex McChesney says King Construction, which was awarded the $1.14 million contract, is rapidly transforming the former fire station into space for booking, interview rooms, IT rooms, evidence and weapons storage, a detective’s office, officer locker room, showers and more.
Willett to leave NI Corridor; will lead Central Iowa initiative

The North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation has announced that President and CEO Brent Willett, CEcD will leave the organization to lead a Central Iowa economic development initiative. His last day will be April 11.
