Head-on accident sends three to hospital

 A head-on collision between an SUV and mid-sized sedan on Highway 18 West Tuesday sent three persons to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Aug. 5, 18-year-old Ashton Trenhaile, of Lake Mills, Iowa was eastbound on Highway 18 in a 2000 

   

School Board expected to re-visit contract for substitute services

Amount paid to KESS was twice as much as reported to Board

The Clear Lake School Board is expected to revisit its decision to contract with Kelly Educational Staffing Services (KESS)  to handle substitute staffing for the school district in light of new information.

Veterans Memorial at Sea Wall turned down; task force will study options

The Clear Lake City Council, on a 3-2 vote Monday night, agreed with a recommendation from its Parks and Recreation Advisory Board not to allow a proposed veteran’s memorial to be placed at the Sea Wall.

The vote followed almost one and one-half hours of public comment, along with statements by Mayor Nelson Crabb and each Council representative.

Organizers say Clear Lake, Ventura left a postive impression on RAGBRAI participants

It was Clear Lake at its best.  

Sunshine, a gentle breeze pushing sailboats across the blue water, music drifting throughout the business district and people-- lots of people, taking it all in.  An estimated 25,000 to 30,000 bicyclists traveled through Clear Lake Wednesday as part of the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI).
