Lions climb up the ranks now ranked #1 in Class 3A

The Clear Lake baseball team climbed to number one in the Class 3A ranking this week.  The Lions improved to 14-1 and are a perfect 6-0 in the North Central Conference with three more victories last week.  Two of Clear Lake’s three wins during the week were against NCC foes, including previous co-leader Iowa Falls-Alden.  The Lions are now the only undefeated team left in the conference and have the best winning percentage and the best team ERA of any team in Class 3A.

Clear Lake’s softball team split games with North Central Conference foes this week and dropped a game to Class 5A Mason City.  The Lions now stand at 3-8-1 on the season.  Coach Megan Young says the week ahead holds many opportunities for success, with the team scheduled to play six games in five days.  After facing Humboldt and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura to start the week, they will be at

It was another tough week for the Cardinals, as they dropped four more contests, putting their record at 1-15.

Belmond-Klemme rolled over the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura softball team, 14-4, on Monday, June 10.

The game began slow, with neither team scoring in the first inning.  The Broncos picked it up in the second, getting four runs across the plate.  The third inning was exciting for both teams, with the Cardinals scoring four runs and B-K five.  That was the only inning G-H/V was able to score and the game ended with the Broncos on top, 14-4.

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura baseball team started the week off slow with two losses, but picked it up at the end of the week with a win over West Hancock, before dropping two games to Newman.
