CL girls wrap up outstanding regular season

The Clear Lake girls put the finishing touches on an outstanding regular season last week.  The Lions (17-2) topped North Central Conference foes Bishop Garrigan and Eagle Grove, and posted a non-conference win over Charles City.  The Lions, ranked third in Class 3A, begin the post-season Saturday by hosting Central

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys basketball team split a pair of games last week, moving their North Iowa Conference record to 6-6 and the overall record to 9-9.

   

Lions in driver’s seat to capture NCC crown

The top ranked Clear Lake boys continued to roll along with two more North Central Conference wins last week. The Lions won at home against Clarion-Goldfield, then traveled to St. Ed’s for an always-tough meeting with the Gaels.  With four conference games remaining, the Lions (15-0, 14-0) are in the driver’s seat to capture the NCC crown.  Humboldt has three NCC losses, while the Gaels have four.

The Lions were slated to travel to Garrigan on Tuesday and host Eagle Grove on Friday. 

   

St. Ed’s gets revenge

St. Ed’s got revenge for their only loss of the season, beating the Clear Lake girls (14-2, 13-1) Friday night in Fort Dodge.  The win puts the two teams on even standing atop the North Central Conference with four NCC games left to play.  

CL 72, C-G 29

The Lions warmed up for their rematch with St. Ed’s with a home contest against Clarion-Goldfield Tuesday, Jan. 28.  The Cowgirls were outmatched, 72-29.
