Lions win Sectionals; send nine wrestlers to Districts

The Clear Lake wrestling team once again appears to be peaking at the right time.  The Lions won Saturday’s Sectional Tournament by 65 points over Forest City. Both teams advanced to the first round of the Dual State competition, which was held Tuesday in Clear Lake.  Results were not available at prestige.  In addition, the Lions send nine wrestlers to District competition Saturday at Webster City.

The Clear Lake boys basketball team has claimed its first North Central Conference title in 23 years.  The Lions (17-0) posted a  win over Bishop Garrigan Tuesday, while Humboldt lost to Algona, giving the Lions the crown.  The top ranked Lions (3A) made the most of Senior Night Friday, topping Eagle Grove, 92-75.

   

GHV girls capture NIC Championship

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls continue to roll, as they collected three more wins and clinched the outright NIC title with a victory over Newman on Monday.  The Cardinals moved their record to 13-1, 17-3, as they head into Regional competition.

The Clear Lake girls put the finishing touches on an outstanding regular season last week.  The Lions (17-2) topped North Central Conference foes Bishop Garrigan and Eagle Grove, and posted a non-conference win over Charles City.  The Lions, ranked third in Class 3A, begin the post-season Saturday by hosting Central
