GHV girls open season with a scrimmage against Mohawks

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls basketball team tipped off their season on Tuesday, Nov. 19, when they traveled to Mason City for a Hall of Pride Scrimmage against the Mohawks.

Clear Lake falls in the UNI-Dome, 48-13, to #1 Sioux City Heelan 

Big plays and turnovers lifted top ranked and undefeated Sioux City Heelan to a 48-13 victory over Clear Lake in the State semi-finals played Thursday, Nov. 14, in the UNI-Dome.  

Big plays came early and often, courtesy of Heelan quarterback Trenton Solsma.  Solsma completed his first 23 

   

GHV players earn post-season honors

Following a successful season, the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals football team was honored by having 10 senior players recognized as Class 2A District 2 All-District selections.

Earning First Team honors was:  Sahid Devora, defensive line; Braden Meints, linebacker, kicker and punter; Colton Knutson, defensive back; Nic Tusha, linebacker; and Shawn Murphy, defensive line.

   

Lions left standing after 48-33 shootout

It was a night for a shootout as the No. 3 Clear Lake Lions (12-0) avenged last year’s playoff elimination at the hands of the Grinnell Tigers (8-4) 48-33. The win sends Clear Lake to the UNI-Dome for the state semifinal game against the No. 1-rated Sioux City Heelan (12-0) team.
