Lions ready for playoff run; top GHV Cardinals 42-0

Top ranked Clear Lake wrapped up a perfect regular season and is ready to compete in its 17th straight play-off game tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 29) to start the journey toward a Class 2A State title.  The Lions will face Estherville-Lincoln Central, who they defeated 54-27 back on Sept. 19 in Class 2A, District 2 action.  Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Lions Field.

   

GHV boys win State Qualifying Meet; Smith places first

History was made by the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys cross country team by winning their first State Qualifying meet.  Not only did they win, but they won by a large margin, garnering 57 points to capture the title.  Osage was second with 75 points, followed by Waukon in third place with 92 points.  Fifteen teams competed in the event held on Thursday, Oct. 23, in New Hampton.

   

Storbeck and Jones move on to State Cross Country Meet

Clear Lake runners saved their best races of the year for when it counted most.  Two Lions, freshman Gretchen Jones and senior Tanner Storbeck, will compete at Saturday’s State Meet as a result of their top 10 finishes at the State Qualifying Meet held Thursday at New Hampton.

   

CL cheerleaders to perform

The community is invited to come support the Clear Lake Cheerleading Competition Squad as they prepare for the 2014 Iowa State Cheerleading Competition. The squad will perform their routine for the public on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 5:30 p.m. in the Clear Lake High School Gymnasium. The Iowa State Cheerleading Competition will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Des Moines at the Iowa State
