Clear Lake topped Bishop Garrigan 174-180 in a North Central Conference dual meet played Monday, April 23, at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Clear Lake.

Meg Monson led the Lions with a 39.  She was followed by Taylor Berger (44), Malorie Fischels (45) and Paige Backhaus (46).  Lexi Lovik carded a 48, as did Megan Loux.
Also golfing for the Lions was Maddie Hess (51), Emily Monson (53) and Hailey Horner (57).
“The Garrigan girls and the Clear Lake girls have been dominating the North Central Conference for the past 10 years or so.  We showed good team depth last night.  It was nice to see Taylor Berger come in with a 44 after a rough start,” said Coach Fred Wieck.

Coach Wieck said the Lions played very well as a team on Tuesday, April 24, and the result was one of the lowest team scores from a Clear Lake team in quite a while.  The Lions finished at 170, some 38 strokes better than runner-up Hampton-Dumont (208) and 51 better than Eagle Grove (221).  The triangular was played at Veterans Memorial Golf Course.
Clear Lake’s junior varsity team also set a new school record with a 193.
“We had 10 girls shoot under 50 on Tuesday which is a first in my 23 years as coach,” said Coach Wieck.  “Malorie Fischels shot her best competitive round and was the medalist with a 40.”
Also helping the Lions to the winning score was Meg Monson with 41, Taylor Berger with a 43 and Lexi Lovik’s 46.
Also scoring under 50 for the Lions was Paige Backhaus, Megan Loux, Emily Monson, Annie Snyder and Hailey Horner, all with 48s.  Libby Hewitt carded a 49 for the Lions.
