Lions top Bulldogs, 64-33

The Clear Lake boys basketball team ended the first half of its season on the upswing, winning their last two games to even their record at 3-3 heading into the holiday break.
Tuesday, Dec. 20, the Lions hosted Hampton-Dumont. They broke the game wide open in the fourth quarter with a 16-0 run to win, 64-33.
“It was a closer game than the score indicates; we really didn’t break it open until the fourth quarter,” said Coach Kevin Kahler, whose team held a 28-15 halftime lead and was up 42-29 after three. “Our defense was one of the keys. We held their top two scorers (Brolsma and Butson) to a total of six points, so I was real happy with the defensive effort. Offensively, we did a nice job in transition, and our post players were effective against their zone. We still have some fundamental things that we need to get cleaned up, but we had a lot of positives tonight.”
Senior post Chase Crosby put in 17 points to lead the Lions. Crosby was 6/8 from the floor and 5/6 at the free throw line. Also finishing in double figures was Ozzie Adams, who had 14 points.
