Craft fair
An Arts and Crafts Fair opens at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, as part of Clear Lake’s Fourth of July fun. The carnival will open at noon, with wristband day offered from noon to 5 p.m. Wristbands, which allow the holder to unlimited carnival rides during the time period, are $15. Bingo opens at noon and Exit 113, a variety band, performs at 7 p.m. in the Bandshell.
A full day
A full day of fun is planned Friday, July 3, in Clear Lake. The Arts and Craft Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the carnival and Bingo tent open at noon. Something Like That, an acoustic rock band, performs from 1-3 p.m. in the Bandshell, with The Blue Band, playing Blues, Soul and Rockabilly, on stage at 7 p.m.
Parade
The Fourth of July parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of Main Avenue and 20th Street and proceed to the downtown area. Ray Hewitt, chairman of the board at Clear Lake Bank and Trust, has been chosen to serve as Grand Marshal for this year’s parade. The Evans United Shows Carnival and Bingo open at noon, with various entertainment in the Bandshell throughout the day.
Patriotic concert
The Clear Lake Municipal Band will take a break from its usual weekend concert schedule and instead offer a special 8:30 p.m. patriotic concert Saturday, July 4. The music will serve as a fitting introduction to the 10 p.m. fireworks display over the lake. A concert program appears on page 12.
Fireworks
There’s no better place to watch fireworks than to see them shot off over Clear Lake. The fireworks show will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday. A musical tribute is aired on KLSS-106.1 FM, AM 1490 KRIB and AM 1300 KGLO for those wanting to add patriotic music as a background for the fireworks show.
Family Fun Day
Sunday has been declared as Family Fun Day at City Park. The Arts & Craft Fair will open at 10 a.m., with Bingo and the carnival starting at noon. A second Wristband Day is offered Sunday; for $15 ride all the rides as many times as you like from noon to 5 p.m. A 1 p.m. the Chamber of Commerce will host a Family Feud Game Show in the Bandshell. All ages are invited to take part in a variety of free family games beginning at 3 p.m.
Magic
Professional entertainer, Jim Jayes, combines magic and puppetry to delight audiences of all ages. His 30 years of experience and original magic effects make his program unique and entertaining. He will be at the Clear Lake Public Library Tuesday, July 7 at 4 p.m. Phone 357-0315 to pre-register.
