is the final show of the Clear
Lake Area Concert Association’s
current season. New members
joining for the 2016-2017 sea-

bonus. Memberships are $45
for adults, $15 for students,
and $95 for a family, and will
be available at the door. Single-
event tickets may be purchased
at the door for $25.

Bookies, will host their second
book signing event at the Best
Western in Clear Lake Saturday,
April 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Over 50 authors from through-
out the United States and Cana-
da will be on hand. Along with
the book signing and the chance
to mix and mingle with authors,
there will be two 30-minute
panel sessions in the morning
and two sessions in the after-
noon. Each session will feature
a panel of four authors answer-
ing questions from a modera-
tor, as well as the audience. In
addition to the many prizes of
gift cards that will be randomly
given away throughout the day,
a Kindle Fire tablet will be given
away in both the morning and
afternoon. Admission is $2.

Those opposed to the Prestage plant in Mason City spoke to
the Clear Lake City Council April 4 and urged the group to voice
its concern over the proposed project. The topic was not on the
agenda and local leaders did not have an open discussion about it.
However, following the open forum section of the meeting, Mayor
Nelson Crabb read a statement leaving the door open for possible
dissent.
“Over the years, the City of Clear Lake has established a politi-
cal precedent of opposing large scale commercial confinement op-
erations within the Lake watershed and critical areas surrounding it.
As this potential economic development project (Prestage) evolves,
it may come to be that the City Council of Clear Lake would, in the
future, consider taking a position in opposition to such a proposal
as being counterintuitive to our community’s primary economic en-
gine (tourism) and the preservation and enhancement of our natural
environment,” stated Clear Lake Mayor Nelson Crabb.
Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tim
Coffey said his Board of Directors has discussed Prestage a great
deal at the Board level, at the Executive Committee level and with
the City.

because it is out of our control and jurisdiction, and there are a good
