Roger W. Wilcke

Roger Wayne Wilcke, 79, of Clear Lake, passed away Sept. 10, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, surrounded by his family. 

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N, Clear Lake. 

Roger was born Jan. 3, 1943, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Walter Wayne and Helen (Martin) Wilcke. He graduated from Maxwell High School. After high school he joined the U.S Navy. He served for four years before he was honorably discharged. 

He had three children, Jeffrey, Cynthia, and Kevin. During his life he worked in construction and later maintenance.

In his younger years, Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved tinkering with clocks. As he got older, he spent time crafting as a jeweler and gemologist. Roger also enjoyed the down time with his dog, Suzie. During his life, he also amassed a collection of coins and bowie knives. 

Roger is survived by his children, Jeff Wilcke, Cindy (Gregg) Harms, and Kevin (Kristi) Wilcke; grandchildren, Ryan (Katie), Brice, Brandon (Lisa), Logan (Significant other, Aurora), Brody, and Tyler; sister, Sherry (Robert) Hopkins; sister-in-law, Kay Wilcke; and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Helen; brother, Curly; and sister, Dottie (Lonnie).

Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
