Robert Eugene Carrott, 86, entered eternity to receive his new life through Jesus and be united with his soulmate, Kay, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City.

A Celebration of Life for Robert will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. North, Clear Lake, with Mark Doebel conducting the service.  Inurnment will take place in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Robert Eugene Carrott was born Feb. 1, 1938, the son of Lyle and Irene (Kock) Carrott on the family farm northwest of Rockford, Iowa.  In his early years he attended rural country school and graduated from Rockford High School in 1956.  

Following graduation, Robert continued his education at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Junior High School Education in 1960.  In 1976, Robert earned his Masters Degree in Secondary School Administration at the University of Northern Iowa.

  Robert was united in marriage to Kay F. Steelman in 1958, at the First United Methodist Church in Rockford; to this union they were blessed with three children.

Robert taught school at Franklin Consolidated School in Latimer, Iowa for one year and 34 years at Clear Lake Community School.  During his time as an educator, he attended three National Science Foundation summer sessions at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.  During the 35 years Robert taught junior high school science, was Assistant Principal for several years during the peak enrollment in Clear Lake and he coached many sports at the junior high school level.  

During the summer and after retiring from teaching, Robert had a residential/commercial painting business; was Cub Scout Master for eight years, and enjoyed wood-working making many intarsia wood art projects for family and friends.  Robert was owner and manager of rental units in Clear Lake.

Robert is survived by his children, Rodney (Kim) Carrott, of Ankeny, Iowa, Brenda (Craig) Molencamp, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Brian (Susan) Carrott, of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Kirsten (Drew), Jaime (Addison), Jared (Sarah), Aaron (Christina), Amanda (Scott), Kaylea (Jeremy), Ryann (Tyler); and 17 great-grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his infant brother, Thomas Carrott; parents, Lyle and Irene Carrott; wife, Kay Carrott; brother, Larry Carrott; sister-in-law, Dixie Carrott; parents-in-law, Betty and Roy Steelman; and brother-in-law, Clinton Steelman.

Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
