Mark H. McNulty was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Belmond, Iowa, the second of five children to Gerald W. and Madonna F. (Hofer) McNulty. Growing up in the area, Mark graduated from Belmond High School in 1960. He continued his education at Mason City Junior College before finding his home in Arizona. It was here he met the love of his life, Marcia A. Burdette. The couple was married Aug. 8, 1964 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mesa, Az. They were blessed with five children, Maureen, Michael, Monica, Matthew and Mitchell.

Life soon brought Mark and Marcia back to Iowa where he helped his father with the farm. But, he soon returned to his natural skills as a salesman, working in paper and large machinery before his retirement.

Mark was a man of many talents, but his quick wit was his crowning glory. He had a gift for timing a punchline just right and loved making others laugh. Time on the lake was cherished and was usually spent with Marcia and the family on the boat. Fishing brought him joy, even when he thought he might be able to catch something better “over there.”  Perhaps the thing that Mark loved most of all was spending time with his wife, Marcia and their family. The two were inseparable, and loved nothing more than taking road trips together, exploring new places and making memories.

As the years passed and Mark grew older, his quick wit and love of life never faded.

Mark was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7898 and he and Marcia were longtime members of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He served on the Executive Board of Drake University Parents Association and took great pride in his time with the Ventura Booster Club. Most of all, Mark loved his family with everything he had and treasured being a grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Marcia; children, Maureen (Scott) Dockstader, Ames, Michael (Lisa) McNulty,  Zimmerman, Minn., Monica Gribben, Des Moines, Matthew McNulty, Ankeny and Mitchell (Melissa) McNulty, Ankeny; grandchildren, Tyler Dockstader and Kelsey (Saul) Montiel; Jacob, Maxwell, Samuel, and Alivia McNulty; Ryan, Tanner, Benjamin and Emily Gribben; Jackson, Lucas, and Colin McNulty; Nolan, Ada and Brecken McNulty; siblings, Tom (Diane) McNulty, Shannon McNulty and Edward McNulty; as well as nieces, cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Madonna; and a brother, Dennis McNulty.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
