Lady Vikes posting personal best times are area track meets

The Ventura girls track team has seen improvement in the last two track meets they have competed in and are improving times and recording personal best times in events.
Garner-Hayfield Meet
    The Lady Vikes placed third at the Garner-Hayfield meet held on Tuesday, April 17.

    Emily Mathews ran her personal best time and placed first in the open 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.74. 
    “I am excited to see what she can do at our other meets with some good competition to push her even more,” said Coach Laura Huber.
    Mathews also placed first in the long jump with a leap of 15’.
    Emily Spliman ran the open 400 meter run for the first time and placed third with a time of 1:06.
    “Emily (Spilman) is very competitive and I know she will work hard to keep improving her time,” said Huber.
    Other events placing at the meet include:
    •Long Jump:  Sola Stephenson, 5th, 12’10”
    •Shot Put:  Shelby Rayhons, 6th, 27’10”
    •Discus:  Sydney Younge, 6th, 75’3”
    •Shuttle Hurdle Relay:  Stacy Hackenmiller, Courtney Younge, Stephenson, Mathews, 3rd, 1:16.66
    •100 M Dash:  Spilman, 4th, 13.93; Stephenson, 6th, 14.11
    •Sprint Medley:  Courtney Younge, Hackenmiller, Mathews, Spilman, 3rd, 2:04.39
