Kenneth Hansen

   Kenneth James Hansen, of Rockport, Tex., passed away on July 11, 2012.
    A memorial service will begin at 5 p.m., Aug. 2, 2012 at Nisswa Community Center, Nisswa, Minn.
    He was born Aug. 25, 1942 in Titonka, Iowa to Ray and Margaret Barrett Hansen.

    Kenneth moved to Clear Lake, Iowa where he graduated from high school. He graduated from Mason City Jr. College, Mason City, Iowa and Bemidji State College, Bemidji, Minn., where he played basketball and received his degree in teaching. He taught school in Morristown, Minn. for five years and Sauk Centre, Minn. for 30 years. He taught the Adapted Physical Ed. Classes and coached and officiated school sports. He owned and operated two or three small businesses during the summer months in Nisswa, but was best known as the “Mini Donut Man”.
    Ken loved hunting, fishing and wood carving, and was a member of Nisswa Lions Club. After retiring from teaching, he and Mary enjoyed RVing and worked as camphost at Palm Harbor RV Park in Rockport, Texas for the last several winters.
    He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Rockport, Texas; son, Mark Hansen (Phyllis) of Lakeside, Calif.; three stepsons, Jeff Close of Joplin, MO., Rob Close and Aaron Close of Springfield, MO.; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Hansen of Olivia, Minn.; mother, Margaret Hansen of Nora Springs, Iowa; brother, Rod Hansen of Pittsburg, MO.; sister, Bev Carmen of Charles City, Iowa; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
    In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by donation in Ken’s honor to Hospice or Cancer Research. Arrangements entrusted to: Charlie Marshall Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Aransas Pass, Tex.
