Judith Hiveley

 

Judith “Judy” Hiveley, 80, of Charles City, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, in Charles City.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Barnard, from Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.  The funeral was live streamed on the Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home Facebook page.

Visitation was one hour before the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.

Judith “Judy” Ann (Sweet) Hiveley, the daughter of Arthur “Dick” and Mary Frances (Daly) Sweet, was born Feb. 21, 1943, in Charles City.  She received her education at Immaculate Conception School, graduating in 1961.  Judy continued her education at the Personal Training Institute in Omaha, Neb. where she graduated in 1961, and she furthered her education even more by attending the Mitchell Vocational Tech School, graduating in 1988.

Judy was united in marriage to Jim L. Leasure on Sept. 8, 1962. This union was blessed with five children, Tamara, Leanne, Jeff, Mary and Ev.  The couple later divorced.  On April 12, 1987 Judy married William Hiveley.

Judy worked at EMC insurance for several years until her retirement.  She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and loved spending time with her family.

Living family members include her children,  Tamara Leasure, Charles City, Leanne (Jeff) Hicks, Ventura, Jeff (Sara) Leasure, Texas, Mary (Mark) Holstad, Northwood and Ev Leasure, Holiday, Fla.; grandchildren, David Brandt, Bob Brandt, Cathy Brandt, Nick Leasure, Vinny Leasure, Sofia Leasure, Tyler Holstad, Beth Quinby, Mindy Holstad and Lauren Hadlund; numerous great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jim Leasure and William Hiveley; siblings, Jim Sweet, Dorothy Learn, Mary Hinman, Jean Emmel, Betty Boehmer and Lois Sweet (in infancy).
