Great Lakes starts service to MC Airport today

Great Lakes Airlines begins service at the Mason City Municipal Airport today (Wednesday, April 11) replacing Delta Airlines which is discontinuing service to Mason City.
According to Airport Manager Pam Osgood, the Mason City Airport Commission approved a lease agreement with Great Lakes Airlines Monday.  The two-year lease has

the same provisions as the one the airport had with Delta, but with a 3 percent increase in space rentals, she said.  That increase would have also applied to Delta if their service had continued, she added.
The airport will offer more round-trip flights than Delta provided, but on a slightly smaller aircraft.  The Beechwood 1900 is a 19-seat pressurized aircraft. Delta used a 30-seat Saab aircraft.
Great Lakes will operate four flights between Mason City and Minneapolis Monday through Friday, and three round-trip flights on weekend days.  Delta was only offering two weekday and one weekend flight.
