Doris A. Jacobsen

 

Doris Arlene Jacobsen, 103, formerly of Ventura, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at Robson Reserve Assisted Living, Sun Lakes, Az.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. North, Clear Lake. The family will greet friends and family one hour prior to the service.  Burial will take place at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Doris Arlene Marilyn Neese was born June 16, 1920, in Meservey, Iowa, the daughter of Levi and Edith Irene (Richardson) Neese.  Doris graduated from Webster City High School.  Following graduation, she attended business school.  

On Aug.11, 1953 Doris was united in marriage to John R. Jacobsen in Los Angeles, Calif.; to this union one daughter was born.

Doris’s employment throughout her life included train stewardess, magician’s assistant, assembling planes at Lockheed, department clerk, travel agent and bookkeeper.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Jacobsen) Ryan, of Gilbert, Az., grandchildren, Christopher and (Jenna) Ryan, of Lakeville, Minn., Andrew Ryan, of Gilbert, and Amy Ryan Farrington, of Missoula, Mont.; great-grandchildren, Jasper Farrington, Keela and Finnian Ryan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Levi Neese, Edith Richardson; husband, John Jacobsen; son-in-law, Daniel Ryan; lifelong friends, Iris Ong, Jeanne Brunner, Opal Bach and Garnet Greggerson.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
