Constance S. Bieber

Constance Sue Bieber, 89, of Clear Lake died Monday, Oct. 30, 2023 at her home.

Per Connie’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a private memorial service has been held.

Connie Whitaker Bieber was born June 6, 1934, in Belmond, Iowa. Her parents were Carl V. Whitaker and M. Everill (Thompson) Whitaker.

Connie graduated from Spencer High School in 1952. She attended St. Olaf College for one year and the University of Iowa for another year. There she met Rae Bieber and they married on Sept. 8, 1954.

She welcomed the challenge of raising three children and then loved watching her five grandchildren mature into adulthood.

She served on the following boards; Cerro Gordo ARC, the Area Education Agency, Opportunity Village and the Corporate Guardianship.  She belonged to Zion Lutheran Church and was especially passionate about Zion’s small group ministry.

Connie was extremely grateful for her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister, Kathryn (Thomas) Twetten, of Craftsbury Common, Vt.; sons, Mark Scott Bieber, Thomas Whitaker (Lisa) Bieber, both of Clear Lake; and daughter, Anne Kathryn (Robert) Lashier, of Johnston, Iowa.  Also surviving are five grandchildren who fondly called her “B,” Thomas (Jamie) Lashier, of Johnston, Kathryn (Hans) Schaeffer, of Urbandale, Iowa, Peter (Madeleine) Lashier, of Grimes, Iowa, Joesph (Rochelle) Bieber, of Santa Cruz, Calif. and Matthew (Elizabeth) Bieber, of Clear Lake.  B had three great-grandchildren, Roe Fox and Lake Anne Lashier, of Johnston, and Kaden James Bieber, of Santa Cruz, and one  due in February.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

B made it her mission to instill her love of Jesus to all of her family members, friends and people she would meet. She loved her family fiercely and will be dearly missed and loved forever.

Memorials may be given to the Clear Lake Public Library or Proclaim Jesus (proclaimjesus.net) an evangelic ministry of young missionaries led by Joe and Rochelle Bieber.  Condolences and memorials can be sent to: Anne Bieber Lashier: 7104 NW 95th CT, Johnston, IA 50131.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.
