Clear Lake girls host Early Bird Track Meet; place seventh

    The Clear Lake girls track team hosted its Early Bird Track Meet Tuesday, April 3.  Algona ran away with the team title, racking up 161 points to Bishop Garrigan’s 90.  Clear Lake placed in seven events, giving them 28 points and placing them seventh in the eight team standings.

    Peyton Huey figured in three of the placements.  She led off the Distance Medley Relay which placed second in 4:47.18 and was third in the long jump with a leap of 14’ 3”.  Other members of the Distance Medley Relay were Brittany Bieber, Marcie Dick and Trudy Peterson.  Peterson also had a fourth place finish in the 1500 meter run, crossing the finish line in 5:35.15. 
    The Lions got another placement in a distance event when Steph Faught ran the 3200 meter run.  She was third in 12:14.22.  Teammate Sierra Greimann was sixth in the event in 12:30.75.
    Brya Walton cleared 4’ 8” to place fifth in the high jump.
    Clear Lake’s Sprint Medley Relay team of Huey, Brianna Haugen, Caitlin Harle and Sydney Borrill was sixth in 2:08.28.

Algona 101, Bishop Garrigan 90, Hampton-Dumont 84, Humboldt 79, Forest City 71, Iowa Falls-Alden 51, Clear Lake 28, St. Ansgar 25.
    
Junior varsity
    No points were kept in the junior varsity portion of the Early Bird Relays, but the JV Lions showed strongly, earning a placement in nearly every event.
