CL girls place third at Garner Meet

The Clear Lake girls track team continues to pour it on as the season races to the finish line.  Last week the Lions finished third  at Garner-Hayfield, as well as at the Jim Ahrens invite in Clear Lake.

    The Lions tallied their highest point total of the season at Garner April 30, placing third among eight teams with 106 points.  Hampton-Dumont won the team title with 134, followed by Forest City with 132.

    The Lions got a first place finish from Brittany Bieber in the 200 meter dash in 28.43.  She was also second in the long jump with a mark of 13’ 8”.
    The Lions’ middle and long distance runners also had a good night.  Trudy Peterson won the 800 in 2:34.32 and Sierra Greiman captured the 1500 in 5:42.28.  Steph Faught was the winner in the 3000 in 11:58.18.
    Others scoring in individual events included Aspen Curtis, forth in the 400 meter hurls in 1:17.2 and Erin Borgman, fifth in the 100 hurdles in 18.66. Shelby Dickes was fifth in the 100 meter dash in 14.10.
    In field events, Katie Hewett was fourth in the discus with a throw of 91’ 2”.  Sidney Borrill was third in the high jump, clearing 4’ 8” and Brya Walton was fifth with a jump of 4’ 6”.
    The Lions’ 4x400 team was a winner in 4.23.33.  The relay was comprised of Jaci Ullrich, Bieber, Sidney Borrill and Peterson. 
    The 1600 meter distance medley team of Harle, Borrill, Bieber and Peterson was second in 4:31.99.
    The 4x100 team of Borgman, Brianna Haugen, Ali Petersburg and Dickes placed third in a time of 56.32.  The 4x800 with Ullrich, Borrill, Kaye Faber and Greiman was also third in 11;:29.75.
    The shuttle hurdle team was also third with Borgman, Mindy Allenstein, Petersburg and Curtis. 
    Also picking up a team point was the sixth place 4x200 relay team of Kirsten Reineke, Faught, Walton and Haugen in 2:03.38.

Clear Lake
    Distance runners again paced the trace team at the Jim Ahrens co-ed meet held Thursday at Lions Field.  Steph Faught was a winner in the 3000 meter run in 12:19.08 and Trudy Peterson won the 800 meter run in 2:33.02.  Peterson also anchored the winning Distance Medley relay with Sidney Borrill, Caitlin Harle and Brittany Bieber.  Their winning time was 4:30.42.
