What a difference a few days can make.
The Clear Lake boys golf team bounced back from a shaky start to the season at Decorah by capturing the team title at the Spencer Invitational Saturday, April 14.
Viking Invitational
It was a rough day for the Lions at the Viking Invitational held in Decorah Thursday, April 12.  The Lions finished sixth in the eight-team field.  The host team won the team title with a score of 300.  The Lions came in at 336.

“We will see what team we are made of,” said Coach Eric Perry.  “Since we’ll see Decorah in the first and second round of playoffs, we need to make up a lot of strokes to compete with them.  The competition was very good, as Decorah is probably the best team in the state with their entire team coming back from last year’s third place in Class 3A.”
Other teams at the event were also credentialed.  Runner-up Chaska, Minn. (307), Winona, Minn. (317), Lakeville South, Minn. (318) and Owatonna (327) are all large schools with deep rosters.
“This was a good tournament for our golfers, as this was many of our young teams’ first varsity competition.”
Luke Monson led the Lions with a (42-38) 80.  Jon Carew came into the clubhouse with a (42-41) 83, followed by Tommy Schick with (40-44) 84.  Treslyn Allison rounded out the varsity scoring with (44-45) 89.  Tyler Sherman (45-49) 94 and Dane Waldron (50-45) also competed for Clear Lake.
