Bonnie R. Secory

Bonnie Rae Secory, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at Oakwood Care Center. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 14, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Lay Minister Al Berge officiating.  Following the graveside service the family will have a celebration of life at the VFW, 219 Main Ave, Clear Lake.  

A visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.  Visitation will continue Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.

  Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Bonnie’s memory. 

Bonnie Rae was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Mason City, with her twin sister, Connie; the daughter of Lawrence Arthur “Bud” and Cora Elizabeth (Suby) Jenkins. Bonnie grew up in Fertile attending Fertile Elementary School; she graduated from Forest City High School in 1967. Bonnie met Mike, the love of her life at the Silver Boot Roller Rink in Clear Lake. 

Bonnie was united in marriage to Michael Secory on June 7, 1968; to this union they were blessed with a daughter, Michele. Bonnie worked at Unisys for several years; later she began working for the family business as the office manager for Secory Plumbing & Heating. 

Bonnie enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, puzzles, fishing, swimming. She loved traveling to the cabin in Minnesota and wintering in Gulf Shores, Ala. Bonnie loved hosting the holidays for her family, especially Christmas. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammy. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Mike Secory; daughter, Michele (Kevin) Monson; grandchildren, Seth (Whitney) Monson, Tyler (Abagail Eckert) Monson, Aliah (Marcus Soto) Monson, Isaiah Monson; great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Kase and Lennyn Monson, Amiyah, Cormac, Kylarae and Maylan Soto; sisters, Connie (Wayne) Dirks, Fran Cates; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Pat) Tarr, Sandy Jenkins, Linda Graff, Pam Marsh, Don (Judy) Secory, Tom (Marylou) Secory, Danniele (Raymond) Sexton; step-brother-in-law, John Lynch; bonus daughter, Shannon Hanson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Cora Jenkins; sisters, Jean Tarr, Sherri Jenkins; brother, Lanny Jenkins; brother-in-law, Steve Secory, sister-in-law, Cinda Michel; nieces and nephews, Michael Secory, Breanna Secory, Erica Benson, and Andrew Schroeder. 

Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
